Safety Policy

"Reducing Costs Through Safety Leadership and Innovation"

Safety is the most important player on our team and we are very conscious of safety and loss control. Safety awareness is job one! It benefits ANMAR as well as our customers. To ensure our position, we maintain and implement our Health and Safety Program, which consists of three basic elements:

  • Policy/Program
  • Training
  • Enforcement

We believe that all injuries can be prevented and our goal is to have an injury and accident free workplace. Our commitment to this standard is evident in a variety of company efforts, including regular safety inspections/audits, clearly communicated rules and regulations, daily/weekly tool box meetings and monthly staff Safety Meetings. ANMAR recognizes the importance of a safe work environment through the following:

  1. Membership in the Mechanical Contractors Association and MCAO Safety Group
  2. Membership in the Construction Safety Association Of Ontario
  3. Committee member of the Sudbury Regional Labour-Management Health and Safety Committee
  4. An in-house Safety Committee
  5. First-Aid and CPR Training
  6. Risk Assessment Training
  7. Personal Protective Equipment (Fall Protection) Training
  8. PHR Process Hazard Assessment (Construction) Training
  9. Emergency Procedures Training
  10. Locking/Tagging (Zero Energy) Training
  11. WHMIS Training
  12. Confined Space Training
  13. Accident/Incident Reporting and Training
  14. Spill Procedure Training
  15. O.H.S.A. Duties and Responsibilities (Employer-Supervisor-Worker)
  16. Housekeeping Standards

We are current and proactive in our efforts to eliminate down time as a result of injuries. Our safety policy outlines and regulates the conduct of our employees on the job. At ANMAR safety is #1. We continually update our safety policy in order to ensure that all new legislations from the MOL are followed and implemented on a day-to-day basis.

Our Corporate Safety Manager has a dedicated team of highly knowledgeable professionals forming the basis of our safety team. Depending on the project load, we typically have as many as a dozen Site Safety Supervisors coaching and guiding our work teams to success in safety and production. ANMAR's policy for on-going projects is followed and implemented by all Supervising Foremen, daily. Each shift is required to attend and complete a daily toolbox safety meeting, which usually takes approximately 15 minutes per day. This allows the crew to anticipate and discuss any hazardous situations that may be relevant to the project tasks at hand.
